Jason Monks
Before entering politics and entrepreneurship, Jason served as the Environmental Health and Safety Manager at ZiLOG Inc. from 1993 to 2003. In this role, he was responsible for the safety of over 3000 employees and managed all environmental and safety compliance issues at a semiconductor manufacturing facility. Prior to that, he worked as a Project Industrial Hygienist/Site Safety Officer at Rust Remedial, overseeing safety and chemical exposure at a hazardous waste superfund cleanup site.
Jason Monks earned his Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University in 1992, with a dual emphasis in Environmental Health and Industrial Hygiene.
Jason's leadership extends beyond the political arena and business world. With a background in coaching over 30 high school and recreational sports teams, he has honed the ability to recognize and nurture individuals' unique talents and strengths, inspiring them to reach their full potential. Jason's commitment to service, leadership, and community makes him a true asset to the people of District 22 and the state of Idaho.
Jason Monks, a dedicated public servant and successful entrepreneur, has proudly represented District 22 as an Idaho State Representative since 2013. His journey is a testament to decades of commitment to family, community, and professional excellence. For over 30 years, he has stood by his high school sweetheart as a loving husband, raising a beautiful family of eight children and enjoying the blessings of 11 grandchildren. In addition to his legislative responsibilities, Jason is the proud owner and operator of two thriving businesses, showcasing his diverse skill set and unwavering work ethic.
As the current House Revenue and Taxation Committee Chairman, Jason is in his fourth term as an Idaho State Representative. His tenure includes significant achievements, such as being elected by caucus as the Assistant Majority Leader in 2019 and to the Legislative Council for six years. Jason has been integral to various committees, including Joint Finance and Appropriations, State Affairs, Business, Judiciary and Rules, Transportation and Defense, and Energy, Environment, and Technology.
Jason's entrepreneurial spirit is evident through his ownership and operation of The Blind Gallery since 2003. Transforming a small window covering business, he successfully established it as the leading provider of Hunter Douglas window coverings in Idaho. Additionally, as the managing member of J2K LLC since 2013, he has played a crucial role in real estate development.
From 2010 to 2020, Jason owned and operated Valley Medical, contributing to the community by creating one of the largest Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers for hospice care in the Treasure Valley.
